facebook“People are watching and sharing more video on Facebook than ever”, the company states on its blog, which is why the social media giant continues to improve user’s video experience.

Facebook announced several updates that make watching video on Facebook richer, more engaging and more flexible, including:

  • Bringing sound to videos in News Feed, which means Facebook's autoplay videos that have previously been played silently will soon play with the sound on, meaning sound fades in and out as user’s scroll through videos in News Feed, bringing those videos to life. Of course, you can still set your phone to silent, so videos will not play with sound, in fact sound can still be disabled altogether if Facebook users opt out of listening via their app settings.
  • Making vertical videos "look better on mobile devices", thanks to a larger format and a "watch and scroll function" that allows to scroll down the News Feed while still watching a video in minimized picture-in-picture view. You can drag the video to any corner of the screen, and if you’re using an Android device, you can keep the video playing even when you exit the Facebook app to do something else on your phone.
  • Rolling out of a new Facebook Video App for Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Samsung Smart TV, with more platforms to come. With the app, you can watch videos shared by friends or Pages you follow, top live videos from around the world, and recommended videos based on your interests. You can also catch up on videos you’ve saved to watch later, as well as revisit videos you’ve watched, shared or uploaded.
